In wake of disaster, Nokero launches Japanese relief effort
Today we received a touching message from a customer in Japan:
Her name is Yukari Tamura and she wrote to us,”Because of shortage of power where I live we have rotating black-out everyday, I have 2 little kids, they are so afraid of darkness and everytime blackout starts they cry, Now I only have a tiny flashlight and it is so hard to get battery, so I really really want to know when N200 bulbs come!”
Ms. Tamura’s bulbs are arriving this week along with hundreds of other bulbs we’ve already sent. We are working hard to get more bulbs to the people in Japan who want them – but we need your help. When the tsunami and earthquake hit northern Japan it left 2.3 million households without light, according to the United Nations.
Help us by using the form on our website to donate as many Nokero solar-powered light bulbs as you wish, and Nokero will match your donation 1-for-1 and pay the shipping.
Your donation will be delivered to those with little to no electricity. We are working with our colleagues in Japan, as well as Japanese officials, to ensure that the bulbs are distributed responsibly.
We feel great sympathy for those who lost loved ones, lost their homes, and are now living on emergency rations, sometimes in candle-lit shelters or with no reliable light at all.
We know the problems in Japan go far beyond loss of electricity, and we know we can’t do everything – but we will do everything we can. We have lowered the cost of the bulbs to the minimum, we are covering the cost of shipping, and we are matching your donations 1-1, so that every donation you make is doubled.
You can follow our progress on Facebook and twitter @nokero.
Thank you for your contribution.
The Nokero Team
